Lifting Literacy
Have you heard about UFLI?
Your child may have told you that they have been doing UFLI.
So, what is it?
UFLI stands for the University of Florida Literacy Institute who are the creators of a systematic and explicit phonics program called UFLI.
This program is both research and evidence based, as well as recommended by the Department for Education Children and Young People. This means it’s good for our students!
UFLI lessons focus on helping students learn how to read and spell through the teaching of phonics. Phonics helps students understand how letters and sounds work together.
Learning about phonics helps children build a strong foundation for reading, so they can become confident readers.
Staff at Glenorchy Primary School have been working hard to begin delivering UFLI lessons to our students.
Why not ask your child to tell you about what they have learned in their UFLI lessons? They will likely have lots to tell you!
